EU legal-guarantee notice, GARAN label, repair info and green-claims scanner for WooCommerce: the duties of Directive 2024/825 from 27 Sep 2026.

== Description ==

**From 27 September 2026 every shop selling goods to consumers in the EU has new information duties (Directive (EU) 2024/825). WooCommerce does none of them by itself.**

ClaimProof adds all of them:

**1. The harmonised notice on the legal guarantee.** Every seller must display the Commission's notice about the two-year legal guarantee in a prominent way, online and in the order confirmation. ClaimProof ships the official artwork in all 24 EU languages (unaltered, as the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 requires) and shows it where the Commission's guidelines suggest: a sentence such as "Your legal guarantee rights" on product pages, on the checkout and in the footer that opens the full notice on click or roll-over, plus a reminder with the official PDF attached to the customer's order e-mails. The language follows your site, WPML or Polylang. A block and a shortcode put the notice anywhere else.

**2. The EU GARAN label.** When a producer offers a free commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years for the whole product, the seller must show the GARAN label for that product. Enter the years, the producer and the model on the product; ClaimProof renders the official label with only the three editable fields filled in, in the official Inter typeface, as a nested label under the price that opens the full label, in shop lists if you want, and on the checkout directly before the order is placed.

**3. Repair, spare parts and software updates.** Repairability score, availability and cost of spare parts, repair instructions, repair restrictions and the software-update period appear in a "Guarantee & repair" tab on the product page. Set defaults per category and override them per product.

**4. Green-claims scanner.** The directive bans generic environmental claims ("eco-friendly", "green", "climate neutral", "sustainable") unless the product has recognised excellent environmental performance, bans neutrality claims based on offsetting, and bans sustainability labels that are not backed by a certification scheme or public authority. ClaimProof scans product titles and descriptions in 15 languages for such wording, lists every finding with its context, and keeps a tamper-evident log of what you decided. Products are re-checked every time they are saved.

**What makes ClaimProof different**

* **Official artwork only.** The notice and the label are the Commission's own files; nothing is redrawn. The clickable link to the Your Europe portal that the guidelines ask for is always there.
* **All four duties in one plugin.** Notice, label, repair information and claims, with one overview that shows what is in place.
* **Made for every EU language.** 24 notice languages, built-in wording for the sentence, tab and labels in 15 languages, scanner dictionaries in 15 languages.
* **Nothing leaves your site.** No external requests, no tracking, no accounts.

**ClaimProof Pro** adds scanning of categories, SEO titles and descriptions, image alt texts and pages; an evidence register per claim with expiry alerts; a guard that warns or holds products with open claims before they go live; GARAN labels for whole categories at once; scheduled daily scans with an alert e-mail; and a verifiable audit export for an authority. Pro is sold separately by the plugin author; the free plugin is complete on its own.

**Good to know**

ClaimProof helps you meet the information duties; it is not legal advice. Whether a claim is substantiated is your assessment, and national rules can go further (longer guarantee periods, repairability indexes, deposit rules).

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate WooCommerce 9.0 or newer.
2. Upload the plugin or install it from the WordPress.org directory, then activate it.
3. Go to WooCommerce → ClaimProof. The notice is already shown on product pages, the checkout, the footer and in order e-mails.
4. Enter GARAN guarantees and repair information on the products or categories where they apply.
5. Run the claim scan under Tools and work through the findings.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I have to show the notice even if I sell only one product? =

Yes. Every trader selling goods to consumers in the EU must display the harmonised notice from 27 September 2026, regardless of size or country.

= Which products need the GARAN label? =

Only products for which the producer offers a commercial guarantee of durability that is free, covers the whole product and lasts more than two years. Products without such a guarantee need no label. Never invent a guarantee.

= Can I change the artwork or its colours? =

No. The Implementing Regulation fixes the design. ClaimProof only chooses the language of the notice and fills the three editable fields of the label (years, producer, model) in the prescribed typeface.

= Does the scanner decide whether my claim is legal? =

No. It finds wording that the directive restricts and shows you where it is. You decide whether to remove it or whether you can substantiate it (for example with the EU Ecolabel), and the decision is logged.

= Which languages does the scanner know? =

English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian and Greek. You can extend the dictionary with the claimproof_dictionary filter.

= Does it work with block themes and the block checkout? =

Yes. Product pages, the classic and the block checkout, shop lists and order e-mails are covered. The notice is also available as a block.

= Is it GDPR-relevant? =

The plugin stores product information and the ID of the logged-in user who decided on a finding. It does not store customer data and makes no external requests.
